Consumer prices rose 3.2% on an annual basis last month and flat month-over-month, according to Labor Department data released Monday morning. That comes in just below consensus economist estimates of 3.3% annual inflation and a 0.1% monthly jump, according to FactSet. Emergency SOS via satellite allows users to text emergency services even if they are outside of an area with Wi-Fi or cell coverage. It can be useful if, for example, you're hiking and have an emergency but aren't anywhere near a wireless network. Apple said the feature has "helped save lives around the world" in a release Wednesday. Eventually, when Apple decides to charge for the feature, it will provide another source of recurring revenue for the company's services business, which generated $22.31 billion in sales during Apple's fiscal fourth quarter. "A non-compete is a contractual clause between a worker and an employer that limits the worker's ability to accept or seek other employment or to start their own business for a certain period of time or within a geographical location after the employment ends," says Milana Dostanitch, an employment lawyer with Lipsky Lowe LLP. The debate over the use and abuse of non-compete has come to a head, with the Federal Trade Commission proposing a new ban on non-competes. The ban would prevent future non-competes from being issued, while also voiding all existing contracts. The FTC estimates that a ban on non-competes would expand career opportunities for 30 million Americans and increase wages by nearly $300 billion annually. That night was the beginning of a whirlwind love story for Liran, a Columbia graduate who sold everything he had and moved to Brazil to marry one of them. When Kirban flew down to visit later that year, he was surprised at how ubiquitous coconut water was. Servers at restaurants would ask if they wanted still, sparkling or “coco.” Kirban, a software entrepreneur, was ready for a change and convinced there would be a market for the product in the U.S. The two friends founded Vita Coco (COCO) in 2004 and faced stiff competition in its first decade as others had the same idea, but pulled in investments from celebrities like Madonna, Matthew McConaughey and Demi Moore.
