Facebook is back with a service to provide the internet to Indians who don't have it. This time it's called Express Wi-Fi and it seems to be the true internet (not just Facebook and a few other sites), but it's not free. Facebook's own description of it is rather vague and suggests it's basically wifi routing software that enables anyone with a mobile wifi connection to beam it to their neighbours. In the mean time, Google's free wi-fi at railway stations (100 by the end of the year) is a hit, with speeds exceeding current 3G speeds. People are using it for checking exam results, downloading software, upgrading phone apps, and seeking information related to educational classes, among other purposes.
