For most parents, the nature-versus-nurture debate is academic. What matters most is how to help kids become their best selves. As kids pick their passions, and hone their own practice routines, parents can borrow from K Anders Ericsson's work to help their children learn to set and track goals, be aware of the quality of their coaching, and consider specific improvements to practice instead of just adding more hours on the court, in the pool, or with the flashcards.
