Go ad-free with TradeBriefs Premium Forget AI - a $100 trillion investment opportunity awaits in clean energy, Schroders says - Markets Insider    The global transition toward clean energy will create investment opportunities worth at least $100 trillion over the coming three decades, according to two fund managers at Schroders.  While investor excitement this year has mostly centered around the capabilities of artificial intelligence and technology, Mark Lacy and David Boyce see enormous potential in the clean energy sector.  Speaking on The Investor Download podcast, Lacy said that there is "comfortably over $2 trillion per annum" feeding into the energy transition market.  Continued here NYC Kicks Off Plan to Rezone Midtown, Turn Offices Into Housing - Bloomberg    New York City is rolling out a plan to convert vacant offices into as many as 20,000 new housing units by creating a multi-agency group to help developers cut through red tape and rezoning a section of Manhattan known as Midtown South. The moves come after Mayor Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul were rebuffed by fellow Democratic lawmakers in Albany earlier this year in the their quest for an ambitious program to address the state's housing shortage. Much of Adams's plan will still need state approval. "We could not just sit back and just lick our wounds," Adams said at a news briefing on Thursday. "We will roll out what we can do here in the city." Continued here You Might Like � � � � � � � � � Zimbabwe's 'White Gold' - Foreign Policy    The world's clean-energy transition will be impossible without African minerals—and a degree of resource nationalism from African countries is benefiting China, which has for decades invested in the African green-energy market and accounts for 59 percent of the world's lithium refining. Chinese companies run the majority of Zimbabwe's mines and are better positioned to expand domestic processing there. Lithium, often referred to as "white gold," is essential to producing solar panels and the rechargeable batteries that power electric vehicles; and in 2022, demand pushed prices up by more than 100 percent. Africa could supply a fifth of the world's lithium needs by 2030, but to best serve citizens, African leaders are demanding that miners go beyond extraction and add value by locally processing the raw mineral.
