The Delhi government should be applauded for introducing the odd-even license plate scheme to reduce pollution. While many seem to think this is some outlandish brainchild of Mr Kejriwal, this (or a variation of this) has already been implemented in various cities around the world, ranging from Beijing (where it's been shown to have reduced pollution levels by 40%) to Paris to Bogota. The scheme should also reduce the chaotic traffic on the roads. While in the beginning it will prompt car owners to either carpool or take public transportation, in the long term there is a danger that some will buy second cheaper more polluting cars. Bogota tried to circumvent this by switching the combinations of days and numbers every year. Delhiites should welcome this step, like the Chief Justice of India has. Now, let's hope the Delhi Police co-operates in implementing it - Comment
